A Social Experiment

By JROCK

The first thing you should know is that I love my co-workers.  They’re a great bunch of people, but sometimes I feel the need to amuse myself at their expense, unbeknownst to them.  So when I saw copious amounts of candy on sale after Halloween I bought way more than I should have, but not for myself, for my lab rats.  Those of you who ever worked in an office are familiar with the concept of free food in the work place.  Someone brings in something and it’s devoured at an ungodly rate no matter how vile the concoction or, worse yet, no matter how long it’s been left in an unsanitary state of non-refrigeration.  I don’t know why simply making something free and edible allows almost anyone to lose their inhibitions and strap on the ole feed bag but it does and, for my purposes, I couldn’t be happier about it.

What you’re about to see was a social experiment I performed on the staff of JimmyConrad.com to see how long an enormous amount of sugary goodness would take to be consumed.  The photos are set in a time lapse photography style to capture the awe inspiring speed at which 7 huge bags of candy were engulfed from the beginning of the work day to the end.   Perhaps the most truly amazing thing about what you’re going to witness is that only on a rare occasion was someone actually spotted taking the candy. Much like the Lochness Monster, the elusive candy vultures were rarely seen and often swooped in for their meal thinking if no one saw them take handfuls of candy it didn’t really happen. Oh, but it did happen and here’s the proof….

I ate 15 Reece's. I had the runs. Which I deserved. I try to eat one, just one, and if I do, an engine starts. It's like a 350, like a police interceptor kind of engine. I can't stop. I can stop, but something inside me says, "EAT ANOTHER ONE YOU PU**Y". Then I do and the cycle starts again.

I'll admit to eating one or two of the Fast Break bars.
